Spring came. Snowdrop.
In the spring with the first sunshine a delicate flower breaks out from under the snow. A flower that gives joy and hope, a flower that tells us: "spring has come." Of course, you recognize him - this is a snowdrop.
After a long winter, I just want to pack up and go to the forest for snowdrops and bring a piece of spring to my home. But do not forget that some species of snowdrop are listed in the Red Book as rare and endangered species. These are snowdrops such as narrow-leaved snowdrop, Bortkevich’s snowdrop, Caucasian snowdrop, Lagodekhsky snowdrop, broadleaf snowdrop, folded snowdrop, Voronov’s snowdrop.
Let's better try to grow a snowdrop in your garden or in a pot on the windowsill. The snowdrop is planted from the bulb, it is possible from the seeds, but then you will see the first leaves after 3 - 4 years. Bulb planting period from July to September. Bulbs must be placed in moist, loose soil. If the soil contains a lot of clay, be sure to add sand to the soil. We plant bulbs in groups, deepening into the soil by 5 cm. The bulb should be solid, dense and solid, without mold and any shoots. If the bulb has already sprouted, then this bulb must be urgently planted. Snowdrops must be planted so that they would be in the shade for part of the day. For a flower, it will be enough to be a couple of hours under the spring sun. To create a spring lawn, plant crocuses, daffodils, and medunits next to snowdrops.
Snowdrops are unpretentious in care, they do not need to be transplanted. It is enough to maintain moist soil and snowdrops will make their way every year, without your participation. If you decide to transplant a snowdrop to another place, then transplant without waiting for the flower to bloom.
Snowdrops, or galanthus (s), comprise about 18 species. The snowdrop reaches a length of 10-15 cm. And it is not necessarily snow-white and in the shape of a bell, as we used to see it. Snowdrops come in different colors and shapes, for example, there are yellow snowdrops in the shape of a ball. This is because snowdrops grow not only in forests, but also in the mountains, along rivers, in meadows. Depending on the type of snowdrop, the area where it grows, its shape and color change.
But in any case, a snowdrop is the first spring flower. Give yourself a gift: plant this wonderful flower at home or at the cottage, and you will be the first to know about the arrival of spring.
