Summer garden treatment with biological products from pests
Closer to mid-summer and more insect pests are attacking our gardens. The peak of work in the garden leaves little time for gardening, but here time should not be missed. If the number of pests goes beyond the epiphytotic threshold, then the fight may end in defeat of the owner of the garden.
To prevent this from happening, it is necessary to enter information on pests that infect several types of garden crops, the phase of their hatching and maximum damage, in their garden diary in the winter. Then it is possible "in one fell swoop - seven beatings" (remember such a children's fairy tale?).
Pests of the first half of summer
At the end of May - the beginning of June, vagabonds feed on their food - the larvae of rather lazy inactive parents scale shield. Especially harmful are the Californian scale insects and false shields (grape, plum, hawthorn, apple, acacia). They are dangerous in that they are literally omnivorous. They affect all fruit crops, populate most fruit bushes and even some of the herbaceous perennials. False shields and scale insects belong to sucking pests and suck plant juice. They are also dangerous by the fact that eating, they secrete a large amount of liquid on which fungi settle. Plants begin to develop fungal diseases. Under the combined action of a pest and a disease, a plant can die.
The second pest, which destroys almost completely the harvest of cherries and cherries - cherry fly (Rhagoletis cerasi). The fruit has darkened, and inside there was a white larva - this is the result of infection of the fruits with a cherry fly. Small insects with a black abdomen and chest, glistening in the sun, and a yellow head, they develop their "activity" in the south in April, and in the middle lane before and after flowering. In addition to cherries and cherries, the fly damages honeysuckle and barberry.
The next omnivorous pest is different types of aphidsincluding gall. Red, reddish-yellow swellings on the leaves of the currant are not a disease, but the result of the action of the gall aphids that settle on the underside of the leaves of the currant. The fight against all types of aphids must begin even in the phase of bud blooming, but if time is lost, then when the garden is treated together with a tank mixture of drugs, these pests, especially gall aphids, will be destroyed.
Other pests, including those that feed intensively in June, reproduce, including codling moth, leafletsvarious types moles, copper flocks, ticks. There is no need to explain that the struggle with special drugs against each pest is separately meaningless. Now the chemical industry offers a wide range of products with an extended spectrum of action on several pests. However, chemicals cannot be used at home. They have a waiting period of at least 20 days and no one will guarantee that a child, a pet, and adults, will not eat early ripened berries or fruits.
Therefore, in private small gardens and cottages, all types of plants must be protected from pests, but with harmless biological preparations prepared in tank mixtures. With such a complex solution, mass damage can be removed in 1–3 treatments, and then, until the end of the growing season, the garden, berry plant and garden are kept in a clean state from pests.
Preparation and use of biological products
All biological products are made on the basis of living microorganisms, which are natural enemies of pests. They are not as effective in single use as chemical, but they also have a waiting time of 1-5 days instead of 20.
From biological products, a find for gardeners is actophyte (synonym for acarin). This bioinsecticide is not addictive to the drug and acts as an intestinal and contact poison for pests. When systematically applied with a gap of 10-12 days, it quickly and efficiently destroys all types of moths, codling moths, leaf beetles, flower beetles, aphids, ticks, sawflies and soil nematodes during soil cultivation. When using acarin, the waiting period is 2 days, that is, after 2 days, purely washed fruits and berries can be eaten without consequences. For beginning gardeners who do not know how or do not have time to prepare tank mixtures, actophyte is a godsend. Especially it is possible to recommend the use of acarin on multi-crop crops, whose crops ripen gradually over time.
The following insecticides, including acarin, are effective in tank mixtures. Since they act only on certain groups of pests, when combined, they increase their effectiveness.
Bioinsecticides combine systemic and contact action on pests, which accelerates the death of the latter. These include the summer resident, phytoverm, bitoxibacillin, lepidocide, verticill, boverin and others.
Among the shortcomings can be called a short duration of the drug (1-2-3 weeks), which requires repeated treatments. But preserved health compensates for the increased time spent on gardening. In this case, tank mixtures serve as a lifesaver, reducing the number of treatments while simultaneously destroying a large number of pests.
How to prepare a tank mixture
Often in the recommendations for the use of mixtures, the expression "check for compatibility before preparation" is found. For beginners, an explanation of what compatibility means and how to verify it may be necessary.
Example. It is necessary to prepare a mixture of 2-3-4 biological products against pests and diseases. To do this, it is necessary to prepare, according to the recommendations, each solution separately (1 l). Then mix 50-100 g by adding one ingredient to the initial solution. Poured into one 2 solution of 50 g, mixed thoroughly and left for 5-10 minutes. If the mixture has not changed its visible qualities (a precipitate has appeared, the color has changed, the solution has become gel-like, etc.), then the preparations are compatible. If the solution has changed, we exclude the last drug from the mixture and repeat the whole procedure with the following. If the necessary biological products are compatible, we each prepare the right amount (3-5-10 l) separately and only then merge together, mix thoroughly and process the cultures.
